I am always genuinely amazed whenever I see a lily pad. The beautiful, vibrant color of its annual bloom reflects softly off the still, calm water in which the lily pad thrives so naturally. What is truly surprising about this beautiful plant is the form it takes in the fall season. By then, the living greenery fades away, leaving only the plant’s substantial frame behind. This structure is all that remains, revealing shapes that are odd and almost other-worldly in appearance.
Such a broad appeal this plant has! It manages to be both graceful and stable in its prime, yet it can also become skeletal and, at times, almost grotesque as the seasons change. THis sounds a lot like me on a bad day.
